REALTORĀ®: Bay Area real estate conditions, how to prevent foreclosures, will be discussed at Oct. 25 Multi-Cultural Real Estate Summit

Real estate professionals and service providers will gather at the Elks Lodge in San Mateo this month to discuss how to better serve and understand homeownership needs and trends of the fast-growing multi-cultural real estate consumers within the Bay Area. Featured speakers and a panel will discuss demographics, Bay Area real estate conditions and how to position clients to prevent foreclosure.

The First Bay Area Multi-Cultural Real Estate Summit, a community outreach initiative for Bay Area real estate professionals and service providers intent on serving the emerging multicultural real estate markets, will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Elks Lodge, 229 W. 20th Ave, San Mateo. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. The program will be held from 2 to 5 p.m., followed by a wine and cheese reception.

The event is being led by the San Mateo County Association of REALTORS®, the Asian Real Estate Association of the East Bay, Chinese American Real Estate Association of Santa Clara County, Chinese Real Estate Association of America, Inc., Fidelity National Financial, Inc., Filipino American Real Estate Professionals Association, National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals – Silicon Valley and San Francisco Chapters and the South Asian Real Estate Association of America, as founding associations, with the support of the San Jose Association of Realtists and African American Economic Development Association of Realtors and Affiliates.

The summit is an educational conference format focused on the dissemination of information, demographic trends, financial reforms and business practices which affect the fast growing multi-cultural real estate communities within the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara.

The summit will inform attendees of specific challenges being met and addressed by the event’s founding associations, offer an exchange of information which will enhance the real estate professional’s ability to serve the emerging multi-cultural market, and build a platform of cooperation among the communities represented by the summit’s founding associations.

San Mateo County Association of REALTORS® President Geoffrey Craighead will deliver the introduction and acknowledgements. California Department of Real Estate Commissioner Jeff Davi will give the keynote address. There will be a panel discussion on “The State of Real Estate in the Bay Area” composed of Davi, Steve Goddard of the C.A.R. State Legislative Committee, Asian Real Estate Association of America President Allen Okamoto, Freddie Mac Expanding Markets Manager Sergio Barajas and San Jose Realtists Association representative Julius Nyanda. Pablo Wong of Fidelity National Financial, Inc. will serve as moderator.

Following the panel discussion, Jorge Carcamo, president of NAHREP San Francisco, will present a class on “Preventing Foreclosures.” A wine and cheese networking reception will be held after the presentation.

The summit is open to all Bay Area real estate practitioners and service providers. Cost is $25, which includes a copy of a PowerPoint presentation and marketing materials from the class on “Preventing Foreclosures.” Register by Thursday, Oct.18. Seating is limited.
