2007 Nicky Award Goes to Michael Verdone

In recognition of his ongoing commitment to SAMCAR’s legislative agenda, SAMCAR’s Legislative Committee awarded this year’s Nicky Award to Michael Verdone. Verdone was recognized and presented a copy of The Prince at the Committee’s annual holiday luncheon held at Menlo Circus Club on December 13.

Named after the writer and political theorist Niccolo Machiavelli, the Nicky Award is given to the SAMCAR Legislative Committee member who has done exemplary work in legislative affairs on behalf of Realtors during the year.

Verdone, a Realtor with Economic Concepts, serves on the Peninsula Legislative Committee. He has worked to cultivate good relations between SAMCAR and local officials of Redwood City on issues of importance to the real estate industry. Verdone also opened his home to SAMCAR members for a reception on behalf of California Assemblymember Ira Ruskin (District 21) earlier this month.

Committee members thanked Government Affairs Director George Mozingo and Deputy Director of Government Affairs Michon Coleman for their diligence and hard work during the year. They also thanked SAMCAR 2007 President Geoffrey Craighead for his leadership, and the respective chairs of the Peninsula, Coastside and Pacifica Legislative Committees.

The San Mateo County Association of REALTORS® (SAMCAR) is a professional trade organization representing over 3,800 REALTORS® and Affiliate members engaged in the real estate business on the Peninsula. SAMCAR promotes the highest ethical standards of real estate practice, serves as an advocate for homeownership and homeowners, and represents the interests of property owners in San Mateo County.
