Event CoverageDecember events end 2006 in a positive noteTuesday, December 5, 2006
Positive end-of-the year reports by 2006 President John Gieseker and SAMCAR Executive Officer Janet Case at SAMCAR’s December 5 Combined Marketing Meeting ushered a productive and very busy December for SAMCAR Realtors and Affiliates, and the string of events that followed ended 2006 on a positive note, with a promising outlook for the new year. In delivering his parting message as president of the Association, Gieseker thanked SAMCAR Realtors and Affiliates for their support and volunteer work in the various committees and activities, and sponsors The Michael Haigh Team, Countrywide Homes and The Examiner, for making 2006 a very successful year. Here are some interesting 2006 stats from the reports by Gieseker and Case: * In 2006, SAMCAR provided 8,600 hours of education, compared with 6,200 hours in 2005. SAMCAR’s video classes provided 462 hours of continuing education; 1,731 hours of live seminars (other than Designation Classes); 4,400 hours in Designation Programs, 87 hours e-PRO Classes; 1,029 hours RE InfoLink classes, 225 in PRDS contract form reviews, 130 hours in WINforms * 60 percent of SAMCAR’s membership contributed to the Realtor® Action Fund, putting SAMCAR in first place in the state of California. * SAMCAR now services 700 offices. * There have been over 2,000 attendees at SAMCAR’s 2006 special events. * Since 1997, SAMCAR’s membership has grown 85 percent - SAMCAR has had 3,413 new members and affiliate membership has grown 111 percent. * There has been a 99 percent rate of attendance in orientations. * In 1997, SAMCAR had a staff of 12, with one staff member for 150 people. Today, the same number of staff serves twice as many members. * That same evening marked the installation of SAMCAR new President Geoffrey Craighead and 2007 Board of Directors: Pete Aiello (Cashin Company, San Mateo), Tim Auran (Realtor, Burlingame), Nini de la Fuente-Pecson (Prudential California Realty, Daly City), Bobbi Decker (Keller Williams Realty, San Mateo), Olivia Tam Edwards (Intero Real Estate Services, San Carlos), John Gieseker, Region 25 Chair, (Prudential California, San Bruno), Karon Knox (Prudential California, San Bruno), Bob Mitton (Alain Pinel Realtors, Half Moon Bay), Jennifer Tasto (Property Services, Inc., Burlingame), Edgar Tulcanaza (Guarantee Mortgage, San Mateo), Sue Vaterlaus (RE/MAX Dolphin Real Estate, Pacifica), Sue Walsh (Cashin Company, Burlingame), Marianne Zanone Rush (Coldwell Banker, Redwood City) and David Zigal (Realtor, San Mateo). * Gieseker and SAMCAR Board of Directors attended the installation of FAREPA’s 2007 officers on December 7 at the Sheraton Hotel in Burlingame. Administering the oath of office to the association’s officers, Gieseker underlined the importance of promoting homeownership and making the American Dream a reality for all people of all races. He also affirmed SAMCAR’s close relationship with FAREPA. * The South Tour Christmas Auction, held on December 12 at Redwood City, raised over $3,900, which would be distributed to the San Carlos Education Foundation, Belmont-Redwood Shores Schools, St. Anthony-Padua Kitchen and Catholic Worker House. The annual event has always been popular among SAMCAR Realtors and Affiliates as homemade brownies, cookies and other delicacies are traditionally auctioned for hundreds of dollars - all for a worthy cause. * At SAMCAR’s annual Holiday Coastal Mixer held December 14 at Pasta Moon in Half Moon Bay, Realtors and Affiliates mingled and exchanged heartfelt wishes for a good holiday season and a successful new year. * In an editorial piece published in the San Mateo County Times December 31 issue, 2007 SAMCAR President Geoffrey Craighead shared a bright outlook for the area’s real estate market. He noted San Mateo County’s housing market has experienced years of “spectacular home price appreciation,” and although the market is expected to stabilize in 2007 and post a modest decline in prices, “over the long-term, real estate in the county continues to be a great investment, averaging more than 10 percent annually since the 1960s.”
