Important Information about Gray Keyboxes

SAMCAR Keybox exchange was completed in August. Following an extensive information campaign we are informing you that there is NO MORE EXCHANGING of old keyboxes.

While other areas were completing their exchanges SUPRA allowed those of you who are using your cell phone as your eKEY to keep your DisplayKEY to insure that you were able to open keyboxes in other areas. The exchanges in other areas have now been completed and the time period to have the companion key is up. If you have both the Display KEY and are using your cell phone as an eKEY you have until February 21, 2012 to return your DisplayKEY to SAMCAR. A refund of your security deposit will be mailed to you following the return of your DisplayKEY and cradle.

You are to only use iBoxBT boxes on your listings. Do NOT use the gray boxes. There will be a $50 fine beginning February 21, 2012 for every gray box found in use on a listing.

For the best showings of your listings be sure to use the most up-to-date keybox, the iBoxBT.

eKey and SupraWEB Enhancements

Over the next two weeks, Supra will make exciting enhancements to our system. Many of these changes are a direct result of feedback from customers.

SUPRA has provided the following document to explain the improvements:
eKey and SupraWEB Enhancements PDF Document

How to Perform a Manual eSYNC

A manual eSYNC can be performed at any time to update your DisplayKEY and upload showing activity into the Supra (KIM) network.  Please remember that until notified otherwise, you must update your DisplayKEY daily before you show property.  Your DisplayKEY may still indicate it is updated for one week, but that is not the case.  We hope Supra will allow us to return to weekly updates in the near future.  Until then, to perform a manual eSYNC, do the following:
1.  Press ENTER to turn your DisplayKEY on.
2.  Using the bottom left down arrow key, scroll to the MANUAL ESYNC menu option and press ENTER.
3.  The key will now direct you to place it in the cradle.  Place your DisplayKEY in the cradle.

The cradle light will turn green, indicating that the Display KEY has connected to the cradle.  The light will then turn red, indicating that the cradle has connected with Supra.  When the process is complete the cradle light turns green and the DisplayKEY status is displayed on the screen.  You can now remove the key from the cradle.

Performing a Manual eSYNC is the fastest way to update your DisplayKEY.  You can also update your DisplayKEY by calling KIM Voice at 1-888-968-4032 or KIM Support at 1-877-699-6787.

SAMCAR Keybox and Key Information

eKEY Activation Fee

If you return your DKEY you will receive a refund of your security deposit in the amount of $150. This will pay for a fob and a portion of the yearly fee for the eKEY basic.

The iphone adaptor is small. Actual size is 1 ¼’ x ¾” x 3/8”.

HOW SILVAR’s Keybox Exchange Affects SAMCAR Members

ALERT:  for San Mateo County Association of REALTORS® members to get the new SILVAR access code in your Supra DisplayKEY, you MUST sync the key on the cradle before August 1!

Message From Supra

Dear SAMCAR Member,

Please be advised that the Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® will be changing the code used to access Supra Lockboxes in their key coverage areas.

ALERT:  for San Mateo County Association of REALTORS® members to get the new SILVAR access code in your Supra DisplayKEY, you MUST sync the key on the cradle before August 1!

Below are instructions for manually syncing your DisplayKEY if you cannot put it on the cradle during your designated weekly update time.

The new firmware will not have any impact on the way you use your key, however it is important that you receive it to continue having access to all Bay Area lockboxes.

Supra is currently showing only 39% of SAMCAR DisplayKEY holders have updated their key in the cradle to receive the flash upgrade for the new SILVAR code.  Once the key has been flashed with the new firmware, then Supra can download the new code to the key. Until then, Supra cannot send the new code.

It is VERY important that you do not remove the key from the cradle while the synchronization is in process (this will be evident from the message on the screen and the yellow and red flashing lights on the cradle).

Removing the key prematurely can result in your key not functioning properly.  Please allow for at least a half an hour (30 minutes) for the manual sync.

To verify the update has been received, you may scroll to the "Error Codes" screen and it should say firmware version "NET V7.6".

IMPORTANT: If you are having difficulty receiving the update, or for technical assistance, please call Supra's technical support at 877-699-6787.

Instructions for updating your key manually on the cradle:
- Press “ENTER” to turn on your DisplayKEY
- Scroll to the Manual Esync option and press “ENTER”
- Place the key in the cradle

The cradle light turns green, indicating that the DisplayKEY and cradle are connected.  When the cradle light turns red, the cradle is connected to KIM.  When the red and yellow lights on the cradle are done flashing, and the solid green light is on, it is OK to remove the key from the cradle. DO NOT REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE CRADLE WHILE THE RED LIGHT IS ON OR FLASHING.

Once your DisplayKEY is upgraded to the new firmware, it will not try to download the software again, so your next esync process should only take 1-2 minutes.

IMPORTANT: It will be necessary for SAMCAR members to auto esync (overnight on your designated update day) or manually esync your key again between July 25 and August 1 to open SILVAR® Supra lockboxes.

Q&A SUPRA Keybox Exchange and Key Upgrade

Shackle Codes
Q. Will shackle codes be changed at the exchange?
A. Yes, if a member wishes to change the shackle codes, this will be an option at the exchange.

Fobs
Q. Can people share a fob – can they get a fob for the whole office?
A. Yes, fobs are purchased and not assigned to anyone specific.

Authorization Code for app
Q. When the app is downloaded prior to the exchange, it says to call your Board for an authorization code. Are those codes being given at the exchange?
A.  At the exchange eKEYS will be assigned (i.e., just like a DKEY is currently in SupraNET) at which time an authorization code (i.e., 30 digits) will be generated within SupraNET and entered into the members key.  As its name suggests, the authorization code "authorizes" the app to work on their smartphone.  If a member breaks, losses and or purchases another smartphone, the member simply downloads the app again and can either contact the board for another authorization code or can obtain it by logging into the system themselves via SupraWEB.

Accessories
Q. Are accessories necessary in surrounding areas?
A. Anyone the uses an Android, Blackberry or Windows smartphone needs a fob if/when they encounter any remaining iBoxes in the surrounding area.

iPhone adaptor
Q. Why does the iphone need an adaptor?
A. While the iPhone has Bluetooth capabilities, Apple “locks” this option down hence the adaptor. The adaptor has a special Apple chip which allows the adaptor to talk to iBoxes and the new Bluetooth iBoxes.

Remove and reinstall boxes
Q. Do you have any ideas to suggest to agents who have many listings in the Bay Area, in a 100 or more radius, of how to remove and reinstall all of their keyboxes to avoid losing business?
A. Fortunately everyone is in the same boat and will exchange keyboxes all in the same time frame. If a member is unsure what type of keybox they might encounter, as always it’s best to contact the listing agent. This is noted in the mailer, “Please call before showing to ensure you have access.”

Activation Fee
Q. Is there an activation fee for the eKey?
A. The activation fee will be waived for thirty days.

Cell phone in “no service” areas
Q. How will an eKey work in areas where there is no cell phone service?
A. As long as the eKey has been updated (i.e. while in cell coverage or via Wi-Fi), it does not need cellular coverage to open a keybox.

Lost or replaced cell phone
Q. What does a person do when they lose their cell phone or want to purchase a new cell phone? How do they get an app for the new phone?
A. If a member breaks, loses and or purchases another smartphone, the member simply downloads the app again and can either contact the board for another authorization code or can obtain it by logging into SupraWEB themselves.
