SAMCAR Installs 2009 President and Board of Directors On Saturday, January 10th at the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame, the San Mateo County Association of REALTORS® held its annual Installation and Awards event. The event, attended by 200 real estate professionals, served to install the incoming Association President, Olivia Edwards, McGuire Real Estate and the 2009 SAMCAR Board of Directors. The evening also included recognition of outstanding SAMCAR members who have dedicated themselves to the success of organized real estate and to the community.
Installing Officer, Alexis Summerfield, called upon the incoming Board of Directors to adhere to the REALTOR® code of ethics and be strong leaders in the real estate community. The 2009 Board of Directors installed were: Jennifer Tasto, Property Services, President-Elect , John Clifford, Clifford Real Estate, Treasurer, Tim Auran, Tim Auran, REALTOR®, Eric Berggren, Intero Real Estate Services, Robert Brisbane, McGuire Real Estate, Nini de la Fuente-Pecson, Prudential California Realty, Bobbi Decker, Intero Real Estate Services, Suzan Getchell-Wallace, Coldwell Banker Fahey Properties, Phillip Houston, Coldwell Banker, Anne Oliva, Marshall Realty, Edgar Tulcanaza, SOL Property Management & Loans, Sue Vaterlaus, RE/MAX Dolphin, Marianne Zanone Rush, Region 25 Chair, Coldwell Banker, David Zigal, David Zigal, REALTOR®.
The prestigious 2009 REALTOR® of the Year Award was presented to Bobbi Decker, Intero Real Estate Services, for her continuous energy and tireless enthusiasm in supporting organized real estate as a SAMCAR Board member. Bobbi, a former high school biology teacher, teaches at the Anthony School of Real Estate and has helped develop education for SAMCAR members and motivates new REALTORS®. Bobbi currently serves as SAMCAR’s Fundraising Captain and received the award to a standing ovation.
The 2009 Affiliate of the Year Award was presented to Moe Arshad, Old Republic Title, for going above and beyond the call of duty to service all of his clients and colleagues’ needs. He is known for his dedication to helping others within the real estate community.
The 2009 Community Service Award winner was Anne Oliva, Marshall Realty, for her dedicated service to helping spearhead the “Coats for Kids” fundraising campaign which raises thousands of dollars and hundreds of donated coats each year to local children during the winter. She organized teams to get involved with Strides for Life, as well as participating. She also is involved with Climb California which involved gathering a team to climb the Bank of America stairs and raise money for lung disease. To help raise funds for the SAMCAR Foundation, she devised an arm wrestling contest at the SAMCAR’s annual Spaghetti Feed, which not only added humor to the event, but encouraged attendees to increase their donations to the Foundation.
