Realtors lead discussion on Local Coastal Land Use Plan in Pacifica
On Saturday, March 16 nearly 50 residents met at a packed dining hall inside Nick's Restaurant to discuss the Rockaway Quarry reclamation plan, get an update on the local coastal land use plan's potential impacts to businesses and property values, and hear from elected officials on ways to address ongoing infrastructure and budgetary issues that are critical to the future of the City of Pacifica.

Two Realtor members of SAMCAR, Patrick Sullivan in Foster City and Sue Vaterlaus in Pacifica, have recently risen to the mayorship of their respective cities. Realtors and citizens alike appreciate both Mayor Sullivan and Mayor Vaterlaus' devotion to serving locally and knowledge of many pressing issues. Jackie Speier announces run for San Mateo County Board of Supervisors
Former U.S. House of Representative, Jackie Speier, recently announced that she would run for the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, District 1. Following her announcement, Millbrae City Councilmember, Gina Papan, and Burlingame City Council member, Emily Beach, dropped out of the race. Papan had been endorsed by SAMCAR prior to Speier's announcement.

SAMCAR Members Attend C.A.R. Legislative Day 2023
On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, SAMCAR members travelled to Sacramento to join REALTORS® from all over the State for the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® Legislative Day! Along with representatives from nearby associations SCCAOR, SCAOR and SILVAR, SAMCAR members met with state legislators including Assemblymember Diane Papan and Senator Josh Becker to discuss C.A.R. Hot Issues legislation. Featured among the legislation discussed was the Dream For All Act and to defeat Senate Bill 466, the excessive rent control bill. Many thanks to SAMCAR members, leadership and staff for participating in this important annual event, as well as the first-ever "Riding with the Brand" block party on Tuesday, May 2, all as part of the C.A.R. Spring Business Meetings.
