The Center for California Real Estate (CCRE), an institute of the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® invites SAMCAR members to an upcoming CCRE panel titled "Unlocking Potential: Tackling the Bay Area's Housing Supply Challenge" at the Letterman Digital Arts Center (Presidio) in San Francisco. This panel focuses discussion on addressing the Bay Area's housing crisis, highlighting efforts by government, corporate, and community organizations to ensure a thriving and accessible living environment for all.

On Thursday, March 28 at SAMCAR's 2024 Annual Meeting, SAMCAR President Moisés Pelayo provided an overview of association activities for the year, and recipients of the C.A.R. Honorary Member-for-Life were recognized by Association Executive Alane Gilbrech, acknowledging their achievement of this prestigious membership distinction. Honorary member David Cline led the Pledge of Allegiance to open the program and honorary member Josephine Moore delivered a keynote address. Also at the Annual Meeting was the presentation of "2023 by the Numbers" -- an infographic annual report -- inspirational remarks by Affiliate member Olivia Edwards, a legislative update with SAMCAR Government Affairs Director Fernando Peña, and an MLSListings update with Mark Messimer and Jesse Gutierrez.

Legislative Day will bring more than 2,000 REALTORS® together to discuss real estate issues directly with state legislators and staff. The Redwood City Council voted 6-1 at their Monday, April 1 meeting to direct staff to research the feasibility of changing the city's current business license tax to a gross receipts model as the only Redwood City specific revenue measure on the November 2024 ballot. The council dropped further research on the feasibility of asking voters to consider a real property transfer tax on the November 2024 ballot.

MLSListings Inc. has recently released two new features that help brokers and agents streamline the listing input processes. To help avoid the tedious process of entering co-brokerage listing, agents can now complete that activity without the additional assistance of the MLSListings staff. They have also simplified the access to the Aligned Showing subscriber benefit within the Listing Management application to help agents activate the showing scheduling tool. On Saturday, March 16 nearly 50 residents met at a packed dining hall inside Nick's Restaurant to discuss the Rockaway Quarry reclamation plan, get an update on the local coastal land use plan's potential impacts to businesses and property values, and hear from elected officials on ways to address ongoing infrastructure and budgetary issues that are critical to the future of the City of Pacifica.

On Friday, March 15, 2024, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) announced an agreement that would end litigation of claims brought on behalf of home sellers related to broker commissions. The agreement would resolve claims against NAR, over one million NAR members, all state/territorial and local REALTOR® associations, all association-owned MLSs, and all brokerages with an NAR member as principal that had a residential transaction volume in 2022 of $2 billion or below.

SILVAR is offering Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) courses on Zoom in April. The CIPS curriculum focuses on ownership and transaction principles of international real estate, including specifics on the real estate markets in Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa. You can take the courses individually. All five courses offered will fulfill the classroom requirements for obtaining the prestigious National Association of REALTORS® CIPS designation.
