REALTOR Safety Program

Whether you're showing a property, meeting a new client or communicating online, it's important to ensure you have an existing personal safety protocol.

NAR offers members an array of other safety resources, including tips and articles, safety training videos, courses and presentation materials, and safety-focused webinars available here. All are part of the ongoing efforts to communicate and educate REALTORS® about safety throughout the year.


National Association of REALTORS® Safety Program

The goal of the REALTOR® Safety Program is to reduce the number of safety incidents that occur in the industry, so every REALTOR® comes home safely to his or her family every night. We will accomplish this goal together with our members by improving the Safety Culture in the industry: Talk about safety; create a safety plan and follow it; and encourage your fellow REALTORS® to do the same.

C.A.R. was recently informed that a REALTOR in Moreno Valley was physically assaulted during an open house. Fortunately, the REALTOR was able to fend off the attacker when a family showed up to view the property. As a reminder, C.A.R. advises members to work in pairs during open houses and showings, whenever possible, and has created a safety video for tips on staying safe while showing homes, meeting clients and holding open houses.

We are told that the agent is ok and the authorities are now involved. With the number of potential risks in the course of conducting day-to-day real estate business, REALTOR Safety is always a top priority of your associations. On Wednesday, August 16, SAMCAR Brokers and Managers were invited to expand their understanding of cyber security with John Wondolowski, Chief Technology Officer from CMI, who explained best practices and provided a list of "to-do's" for brokers and agents to follow to protect their personal and professional data as a lead-up to REALTOR Safety Month in September.
