Saturday, May 10, 2025 — SAMCAR participated in an ADU Resource Fair in Belmont hosted by ADU Resource Center of San Mateo County. This event showcased SAMCAR's ongoing commitment to community engagement and its proactive approach to addressing the region's limited housing supply. SAMCAR representatives, including Executive Officer Alane Gilbrech, President-Elect Linda Crose-Andersen and Director Jessica Eva, were present to connect with homeowners. They offered valuable insights and resources concerning Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), alongside numerous vendors, including SAMCAR Realtor and Affiliate member Karim Sarraf with ADUNOW.HOUSE.

A key focus of SAMCAR's presence was to emphasize the significant value of partnering with a local Realtor when considering the development of an ADU. Realtors possess a comprehensive understanding of local zoning regulations, intricate permitting processes, and current market trends, positioning them as indispensable allies in navigating the complexities inherent in ADU development.

Furthermore, SAMCAR members are equipped to provide homeowners with a crucial tool: the Comparative Market Analysis (CMA). This analysis enables homeowners to gain a clear understanding of the potential impact an ADU could have on their property's value, both in terms of its immediate appraisal and its future rental income potential. By offering this data-driven perspective, Realtors empower homeowners to make well-informed decisions regarding their ADU investment.

SAMCAR underscored the vital role ADUs can play in alleviating the Bay Area's pressing housing shortage. By facilitating the creation of additional housing units on existing properties, ADUs offer a sustainable pathway to increased density, provide much-needed rental options, and afford homeowners greater flexibility for accommodating family members or generating supplemental income.

SAMCAR's involvement in this event highlights its dedication to supporting homeowners and exploring innovative solutions to the region's persistent housing challenges. Through connecting with the community and sharing their expertise, SAMCAR Realtors are demonstrating their crucial role in unlocking the potential of ADUs.

The event was attended by hundreds of community members and earned a feature on NBC Bay Area.
