The San Mateo County Sheriff's office provided SAMCAR members with a list of 20 Real Estate Agent Safety recommendations.

C.A.R. was recently informed that a REALTOR® in Moreno Valley was physically assaulted during an open house. Fortunately, the REALTOR® was able to fend off the attacker when a family showed up to view the property. As a reminder, C.A.R. advises members to work in pairs during open houses and showings, whenever possible, and has created a safety video for tips on staying safe while showing homes, meeting clients and holding open houses.

Recently, a SAMCAR broker shared the story of a REALTOR® being attacked by a prospective "client" at a showing appointment in San Bruno, which was generated by an internet lead and set up through e-mail. We are told that the agent is ok and the authorities are now involved. With the number of potential risks in the course of conducting day-to-day real estate business, REALTOR® Safety is always a top priority of your associations.
