The "Classic" version of InstanetForms is being replaced with the newest version of InstanetForms on Monday night, for Tuesday business on October 7, 2014.
There will be no service interruption, even if you're working in the forms while we implement the upgrade.
There is nothing you need to do, the new version will simply display the next time you edit forms in the system after we perform the upgrade.
All your forms, transactions and the form libraries will remain the same.
The new version is highly similar to the old system in regards to features and functions.
The new version is faster. It's also compatible with all common browsers and devices.
InstanetForms "Classic", the PDF-based version still used by people with PC's running Internet Explorer and Firefox, is being retired and will no longer be available.
Why are we making this change?
The old version of InstanetForms has served us well for many years. However, it relies on the Adobe Reader (or Acrobat) plugin for browsers to work. Some browsers, such as Chrome, no longer support the plugin and "Classic" is not mobile compatible. The new version of InstanetForms uses the latest technology and is compatible with all commonly used browsers and devices; it also has other advantages described later in the FAQ.
Is anyone using the new version yet?
Yes, the "new" version is not really new. It has been in production and been used by tens of thousands of InstanetForms users for over a year. Anyone who accesses InstanetForms on a mobile device (tablet or smartphone), a Mac or a PC running a browser other than Internet Explorer or Firefox has already used this version of InstanetForms.
Many users with PC's running Firefox or Internet Explorer have also chosen to switch to the new version using the IF2Go banner displayed in InstanetForms "Classic" for several months.
How different is the new version?
The new version is much the same with regards to features and functionality. You will still enjoy all the features available in "Classic", with a slightly different interface. Instead of displaying forms as PDFs the forms display in HTML, enabling compatibility with many more devices and browsers.
What is better about the new version?
Speed – The new version of InstanetForms loads and displays forms much more quickly.
Available Everywhere on Anything – The new version works on PC's, Macs, and all commonly used tablets and smartphones – No downloads or apps required. Copyright Instanet Solutions 2014
Support – The new version of InstanetForms does not rely on the Adobe Reader/Acrobat and its ever changing default settings. End users will have fewer problems and are less likely to call for support.
User Experience – Users will now have the same forms editor appear, no matter what device they are using.
Built with Tomorrow in Mind – It is a modern, responsive UI (User Interface) with more features (e.g., launching Authentisign directly from the forms editor). It is also ready for more integrations and new features in the future.
What are some key things I should keep in mind as I use the new version?
The list of forms in the transaction is at the top of the page instead of to the right.
Logos do not display when you are editing forms. They appear once the forms are printed, faxed, emailed, or used in Authentisign, etc.
The dynamic footers, if you use them in your area, will not display when editing a form. They appear once forms are printed, faxed, emailed, or used in Authentisign, etc. Dynamic footers are annotations at the bottom of each page, such as "This form prepared by Joe Smith."
Printed, faxed, emailed and saved forms are automatically converted to PDF files.
If you need to print, email or fax multiple documents, you can exit the form editor by going to File and Exit
The new editor will not work with IE8. Users of this version will either need to update, or use a different browser, either Firefox of Google Chrome.
What about my existing forms and folder?
All of your existing forms and transactions will be exactly as they were prior to the upgrade. All available system forms and folders stay exactly as they were.
Will there be a service interruption?
No. Even if you are using the "Classic" version of the forms during the upgrade, there will be no interruption. You will simply get the new version the next time you login.
Is there anything I need to do to make the upgrade happen? Is there anything to download?
No, we take care of everything. It will be seamless and the new version will simply appear the next time you login after the upgrade.
How can I prepare?
The functionality is so simple, you won't need training. However, here is a sneak preview of the new version. We will also post this video and some information on screen before and after the upgrade as a reminder and to give you access to this information.
What should I do if I have problems or questions?
The Instanet help desk is available to take calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. The phone number is 800-668-8768.
