SAMCAR Foundation Donates over $46,000 in 2021
In 2021, the SAMCAR Foundation awarded $46,800 in grants and donations to numerous charities in San Mateo County thanks in large part to the generous support of SAMCAR members and sponsors. Read below for a detailed report of 2021 charitable giving.

The primary funding sources for SAMCAR Foundation grants are voluntary contributions made by SAMCAR members with their dues payments, contributions from annual corporate sponsors, and fundraising from annual events in support of the annual "SAMCAR Gives Back" online fundraising campaign.
In 2021, members contributed a total of $17,280 with dues payments, with an additional $6,980 raised at SAMCAR's first-ever virtual variety show "Thursday Night Live," $1,715 at the Member Appreciation Picnic, $1,100 in direct passthrough donations on Giving Tuesday, $13,890 at the Judy Ploshay Memorial Holiday Auction in December, and $1,900 from 2021 Corporate Sponsors, in addition to a total of $25,000 in Board of Directors approved donations from SAMCAR to the Foundation.
The Foundation Council, Trustees and SAMCAR staff thank Association members and sponsors for their generous support of these fundraising efforts, helping the SAMCAR Foundation to work toward its vision of providing a roof over every head in San Mateo County.
Charitable giving this year provided for second and third quarter grant requests to be funded while leaving additional funds available to fulfill grants at the start of 2022, including fourth quarter grant requests made in 2021.
Grant applications are considered by the Foundation Council each quarter.
