2021 Crestmoor Scholars

SBCF is funding the 2021 Crestmoor Scholarship with generous donations from the Joseph W Welch Jr Foundation, the San Mateo County Association of REALTORS® Foundation, and Allan and Mary Lou Johnson, in addition to investment proceeds from a portion of the restitution funds resulting from the City of San Bruno's settlement with Pacific Gas & Electric Company following the 2010 gas pipeline explosion that devastated San Bruno's Crestmoor neighborhood. The Crestmoor Scholarship honors the community members who most directly endured the destruction of the explosion and resulting fire, especially the eight San Bruno residents who lost their lives, and ensures that the 2010 tragedy is not forgotten.

At the Board meeting, which was held via Zoom, President Emily Roberts introduced the Crestmoor Scholars and lauded their accomplishments. San Bruno Mayor Rico Medina congratulated the Crestmoor Scholars, as did Randy Torrijos of Supervisor Dave Pine's office, which is providing San Mateo County Commendations to all the Scholars. 2017 Crestmoor Scholar Harmonie Ahuna, who is graduating from UCLA, provided the 2021 Scholars with inspiration and advice as they move forward in their college careers.
