SUPRA wants to make you aware of an issue that may affect some eKEY users. The latest versions of the Android™ operating system (OS) on Samsung phones can cause an issue with the Bluetooth® pairing of the Supra eKEY Fob 2.
The issue can occur in two ways:
If a user has a Samsung phone and downloads the Android 4.3 or 4.4 OS, the next time a factory reset is done on the phone, the pairing of the eKEY Fob will be removed. Once the pairing of the eKEY Fob 2 is removed on Samsung phones with these OS versions, it cannot be re-established. Please note that this only occurs after the user both upgrades and resets their phone.
If a user obtains a new Samsung phone with Android 4.3 or 4.4 OS and has never paired their eKEY Fob 2 with the phone, they will not be able to pair it.
SUPRA has been in contact with Samsung on this issue and determined there is currently no fix. Until Samsung resolves this issue in a future OS release, the workaround is to use an eKEY Fob 3 with the Samsung phone.
For your reference, the eKEY Fob 2 has a black button and the eKEY Fob 3 has a white button.
