DRE Creates New Tenant & Landlord Resource Website
On August 31,2020, Governor Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill (AB) 3088. This new law protects renters, small landlords, and homeowners who are unable to pay their rent or mortgage due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The law—The Tenant, Homeowner, and Small Landlord Relief and Stabilization Act of 2020—took effect August 31, 2020. Additional information about this law can be found here.
The California Department of Real Estate (DRE) was tasked with developing a tenant, landlord, and homeowner resource website, housingiskey.com, to not only provide information and resources on this new legislation, but also house the soon-to-be revised publication, California Tenants – A Guide to Residential Tenants' and Landlords' Rights and Responsibilities. Please be advised that the website will be continuously updated over the next few hours, days, and the coming weeks.

The development of the website was a collaboration between Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency (BCSH) and DRE.

In a September 15 news release, the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency (BCSH) issued a news release this morning announcing a new web-based app that is now available to help Californians understand their rights and options under The Tenant, Homeowner and Small Landlord Relief and Stabilization Act of 2020 (Act).

DRE Announces Revised Publication of Landlord/Tenant Guidebook
Friday, October 9 — The California Department of Real Estate (DRE) announced in a News Release that it has completed a major revision to the widely used resource guidebook titled, California Tenants – A Guide To Residential Tenants' and Landlords' Rights and Responsibilities.
This guidebook and other useful information for landlords and tenants can be found at the DRE-created website HousingisKey.com. The online version of the guidebook can be easily translated into other languages using the google translate function on the website. Printed copies will be available later this year.
