The February 28, 2012 FHA Mortgagee Letter makes some significant changes including modifying documentation regulations for self-employed borrowers; providing new guidelines on disputed accounts; and, expanding the current definition of family members for identity of interest transactions. Of note, all changes mentioned therein are effective April 1, 2012 -and- for self-employed borrowers, P&L statements are now required if the last business tax return is more than 3 months old and statements must be audited if P&L income is greater than the two year average.
