NOTICE TO LENDING INSTITUTIONS AND REAL ESTATE AND INSURANCE AGENTS REGARDING FLOOD INSURANCE RATE MAP ZONE INFORMATION

As a public service, the County of San Mateo will provide you with the following information upon request for properties within Unincorporated San Mateo County:

Whether a property is in or out of the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) as shown on the current Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) of the County.
Additional flood insurance data for a site, such as the FIRM zone and the base flood elevation or depth, if shown on the FIRM.
We have a handout on the flood insurance purchase requirement that can help people who need a mortgage or loan for a property in the SFHA.
The County of San Mateo maintains elevation certificates for new and substantially improved structures in the SFHA since July 26, 1995.
The County of San Mateo updates the Flood Insurance Rate Maps as needed when revisions are made to the maps.
The County also has information for special flood-related hazards and historical flood information, including Floodway Data and Tsunami Data.

Redwood City Council Unanimously Opposes Rent Control Ballot Measure

In a decisive 6-0 vote, the Redwood City Council has officially opposed the Redwood City Fair and Affordable Housing Ordinance, which will appear on the November 3, 2026 ballot. The Council's decision follows an independent supplemental economic impact analysis that concluded the measure extends far beyond traditional rent control and could have significant unintended consequences for tenants, housing providers, affordable housing, and the City's financial stability.
